Baseball Earns Player & Coach of the Year NCWBA Awards

NCWBA and D2CCA Midwest Region Awards; Kocen - Player of the Year, Vucsko - NCBWA Coach of the Year

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Division II Conference Commissioners' Association announced its 2025 NCAA Division II Midwest Region Teams. Second baseman  (Beach Park, Ill./UNC-Pembroke) was awarded Player of the Year for both organizations. Head Coach  won NCBWA Midwest Region Coach of the Year. 

Vucsko won the NCBWA Midwest Region Coach of the Year award after winning the GLVC Coach of the Year award earlier this season. Vucsko led 91³Ô¹ÏÍø to its best season since 2013 after the Flyers posted a 37-18 record and a GLVC regular season title. The Flyers earned the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Midwest Regional before being eliminated by host and No. 2 seed Grand Valley State. 

Kocen adds more hardware to his trophy case after being named the Midwest Region Player of the Year for both organizations, following his previous recognition as the GLVC Player of the Year. The second baseman played in 53 out of the possible 55 contests for the Flyers after leading the team with a .407 batting average, 79 hits, 61 runs scored, 16 doubles and four triples. Kocen also hit 19 home runs and 63 runs batted in which ranked second on the team. 

Lawry earned a spot on the first team after posting a perfect 10-0 record on the mound this season. The left-hander was also awarded GLVC Pitcher of the Year for his performance on the mound. The senior threw 70.1 innings and posted a 3.45 earned run average while recording 83 strikeouts. 

Bilecki was named to the first team in NCBWA and second team for D2CCA after playing and starting in all 55 games for the Flyers this season. The outfielder recorded a .361 batting average with 74 total hits, 61 runs scored, 14 doubles, three triples, 24 home runs and 67 RBIs throughout the course of the season. 

Nelson was awarded second-team D2CCA for his performance this season. He played and started every contest for 91³Ô¹ÏÍø in 2025. Nelson recorded a .326 batting average with 60 total hits, 42 runs scored, three triples, 12 home runs and 48 runs batted in.
