Published: October 27, 2025.

Commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War while honoring the service and sacrifice of the military working dogs and the soldiers who served beside them.

Attend “Fifty Years Later: Remembering the Canine Warriors of the Vietnam War” presented by Henry Gilson, a U.S. Army Veteran and undergraduate student in the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø History program, at 12:30 p.m. on November 11 in the University Dining Room on the Romeoville campus.

The Veterans Day presentation explores the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of the canine warriors who played vital roles during the Vietnam War yet remain largely forgotten in the nation’s memory. A brief Q & A session and reception will follow, with a special appearance from Jet, the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Police Department’s comfort dog.

By hosting this program, the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø History Department continues its commitment to connecting students and the community through public history and remembrance. The event is free and open to the public.
